Utility Assistance Clinic
Utility Assistance Clinic
On Wednesday, October 1, Senator Lea Webb, Assemblymember Donna Lupardo, the Public Utility Law Project (PULP), and other partners will host a workshop to help directly impacted utility customers check eligibility for a variety of financial assistance programs including New York State Electric and Gas’s (“NYSEG”) Energy Affordability Program monthly bill discount, the Home Energy Assistance Program (“HEAP”), energy efficiency programs, and more.
Trained advocates from PULP and other agencies will help area residents check their utility bill to see if they’re enrolled in their utility’s low-income monthly bill discount program, assist with applying for HEAP, and programs to improve home insulation, and answer other utility-related questions.
Participants are encouraged to come prepared with their utility bill, a valid form of identification, and, if available, a copy of their current benefits award letter from public assistance programs such as HEAP, SNAP, or SSI, to facilitate the assistance process.
