Flags In New York At Half-Staff For Trumansburg Soldier Killed In Afghanistan

VESTAL, NY (WSKG) - New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has ordered flags across the state to fly at half-staff in honor of a Trumansburg soldier who was killed in Afghanistan this week.

Sgt. James G. Johnston, 24, died as a result of injuries sustained Tuesday in the Uruzgan Province in Afghanistan.

Johnston was a part of the 71st Ordnance Group at Fort Hood, Texas. He was one of two soldiers who died. The other was Master Sgt. Michael B. Riley, from Heilbronn, Germany.

Flags will begin flying at half-staff Friday.*
