Cornell Expands Travel and Event Restrictions In Response To COVID-19

WEB-20200306-WEB

ITHACA, NY (WSKG) - Cornell University has expanded its restrictions on international travel and other activities in response to COVID-19.

All international travel by students for Cornell-related reasons is banned. Until now travel was only prohibited to certain countries: mainland China, Italy, Iran, South Korea and Japan.

University officials are telling people returning from those countries not to come to campus until they have completed a 14-day quarantine. Anyone unable to go home will be given temporary housing in Ithaca.

They have also banned outside visitors from all Cornell locations if they have been in the higher risk countries within 14 days.

Faculty and staff must now get special approval for any international travel for University-related reasons.

In another attempt to curb the spread of COVID-19 events of 100 or more people will be cancelled or postponed from March 5 through April 15.

Spring Break at Cornell is March 28 to April 6.
