New York Assembly Primary Results: Angelino Claims Victory In 122nd, Kelles Ahead In 125th

BINGHAMTON, NY (WSKG) - With nearly a 4,000 vote lead, Joe Angelino has claimed victory in the Republican primary for New York's 122nd Assembly District.

"I'm honored to have earned the trust of the Republican voters in the 122nd Assembly District with an overwhelming victory in today's Primary Election. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU," Angelino said in a statement.

Absentee ballots will not be counted until next week and, in some cases, could change the unofficial results. Now, Angelino (4,641 votes) holds a lead over Nick Libous (882 votes), Victor Furman (371 votes) and James Powers (303 votes).

The 122nd District covers part of Broome, Chenango, Otsego and Delaware Counties. It's currently represented by Cliff Crouch, who retires at the end of the year.

The race to replace another retiring Assembly member is more complicated. Anna Kelles leads six other candidates vying for the Democratic nomination for the 125th Assembly seat.  The district, which will be held until year's end by Barbara Lifton, covers Tompkins and part of Cortland Counties. Kelles' lead over Seph Murtagh, who's in second place, is roughly 700 votes.

Other results:

In the Democratic primary for New York's 121st Assembly District, Dan Butterman leads Corey Mosher by about 400 votes. That district covers part of Otsego, Chenango and Cortland Counties.

The incumbent in the Republican primary for New York's 121st District, Chris Friend, leads challenger R.C. Ike by nearly 2,500 votes. That district covers part of Broome, all of Tioga and most of Chemung County.

Finally in the 126th District GOP primary, John Lemondes, Jr. leads Daniel Fitzpatrick by just under 700 votes. That district covers part of Cortland County.
