Wells College Adds Another Week To COVID "Pause"

VESTAL, NY (WSKG) - Wells College is extending its “pause” on in-person classes and activities for another week due to concerns over COVID-19.

Wells College President Jonathan Gibralter said there have been additional cases of COVID-19 since the first one was announced earlier this week.

"As of this writing, there are now six individuals in isolation," Gibralter said in a press release on Friday afternoon. "Contact tracing efforts have been underway since last night, and we have identified 12 other individuals who are in the process of being moved to precautionary quarantine.”

The new “pause” period runs through Nov. 15.

Students are still allowed outside the residence halls, provided they are wearing masks and following other precautions. They are also able to pick up meals at the dining hall, but are advised to remain in their rooms at all other times.

College officials said they support the decision of any student who wishes to return home for Thanksgiving early. It will fully transition to remote instruction after the holiday on Nov. 26.
