The State University of New York (SUNY) Reconnect program supports free tuition for adults ages 25-55 who want to pursue an associate’s degree and do not already have a degree. Five thousand six hundred students are currently enrolled in the program across the state.

“The key difference between a job at McDonald’s and a job at a nursing home should be a career, that you’re beginning a career. We believe we need to build that infrastructure.”

At Rep. Reed's manufacturing summit, he said there's an opportunity for growing the high tech industry in his district, which includes Geneva, Jamestown and Elmira. But, one manufacturer in the area says her biggest challenge is just finding employees who can show up for work on time and read a tape measure.
