U.S. Representatives From New York Visit The Mexican Border

VESTAL, NY (WSKG)—Another bipartisan caravan of members of the House Committee on Homeland Security is bound for the Rio Grande Valley for a Friday inspection of immigrant detention camps.

Among the group is New York Representative Antonio Delgado. The Democrat represents the 19th district--which includes Delaware, Green and Otsego counties.

“I plan to use this visit as an opportunity to provide much-needed oversight and probe [Customs and Border Protection] and [Department of Health and Human Services] officials to ensure these facilities maintain the safe and sanitary conditions required by our laws," Delgado said in a press release.

They plan to visit a Border Patrol station, a processing center, a holding facility, and a port of entry.

Republican Representative Tom Reed is also scheduled to leave Friday as part of the Problem Solvers Caucus.

Correction: An earlier version of this story listed Congressman Delgado's first name as Anthony.
