Statesboro, Georgia-born, Cambridge, England-based guitarist singer and songwriter Brooks Williams is admired by both listeners and fellow musicians alike. With over 33 recordings, plus countless concert and festival appearances, he has been a leading light on the roots acoustic music scene for over three decades. He moves effortlessly between country, blues and folk. WUMB-FM Boston names Williams one of their Top 100 All-Time Artists and he's listed in the Top 100 Acoustic Guitarists. RnR writes, Williams is a "guitarist in possession of rich vocal powers and a talent for lyrical imagery, his songs are imbued with uplifting generosity". Brooks Williams, writes Fatea, is “quite simply one of the most unassuming, natural performers on the circuit, and his easy, relaxed manner conceals the greatest level of true expertise.”
Oct 26 Sunday
Come see Tim Ball with Alex Fortier on Sunday, October 26, at 2:00 pm at the Lansing Area Performance Hall (1004 Auburn Road, North Lansing, NY)! as part of WVBR's Bound for Glory's new Live monthly concert series.
Tim Ball’s music tells stories about hard work, immigration, community, and joyous celebration. After 20 years performing in Celtic and contra dance bands and a lifetime of playing traditional fiddle music, his debut solo album Upstate Crossroads was the No. 1 CD of January 2023 on the FAI Folk music chart. Upstate Crossroads sheds new light on fiddle tunes and traditional songs from all corners of New York State, drawing repertoire and inspiration from the surrounding Irish-American, New England, Canadian, and Old-Time/Bluegrass traditions.
Tim is being joined for this concert by Alex Fortier. Alex has been studying and playing piano in various idioms since the age of six. His traditional accompaniment stylings range between classic New England, Quebecois, and Cape Breton styles. He has a love of tradition and a penchant for harmonic substitutions and development. Having graduated from University of Rochester’s Music program in 2019, Alex is now working both solo and with various projects out of Rochester, NY.
Come be a part of Bound for Glory’s new series of monthly live shows. Admission--as always--is free, but we are encouraging donations for the performers. The show will be recorded for broadcast on a future Sunday evening Bound for Glory radio show.
