Mama Look! is the convergence of three singer-songwriters in the Finger Lakes, united by their deep admiration for one another’s musical and artistic journeys. For decades, Uniit Carruyo, McKenzie Jones & Amy Puryear stood as mutual supporters, but Mama Look! marks their first opportunity to create, play and shine together.
Their perspectives have been shaped by the love, grief and joy of being mamas. These many threads are woven through their songwriting, spinning tales of vulnerability and strength. Their music is raw and tender, fierce and luminous, reflecting the complexity of lives lived with open hearts. With two guitars, one cello, three distinct voices, and a rotating constellation of leadership and support, Mama Look! is a radiant celebration of connection.
Mama Look! invites audiences to join in the magic of their music ~ a community of women giving light, not dimming it, collaborating not competing. Their love for music and one another is contagious!
Mama Look! will be bringing special guests and friends to play with them, so stay tuned!
As part of an annual tradition, John Kirk (North American Fiddler’s Hall of Famer, on fiddle, mandolin & more) and Trish Miller (banjo, guitar and fancy footwork) will open the Cranberry Coffeehouse’s first concert of the year. This married couple has worked and taught in upstate New York for over three decades. Old time music is the basis for their repertoire, mixed in originals, Celtic, early country songs, humorous selections and Appalachian clog dancing. Much of their music is rooted in the local lore of the northeast woodlands. Their story-telling songs and poetic pieces make their shows fine entertainment for all ages.

Loveday & The Soirée is the genre-bending project of vocalist and songwriter Loveday Greene, introducing a sound all its own: Swoon Country. With roots in country, musical theatre, rock, and hints of opera, Loveday’s original songs blend raw emotional power with cinematic flair. These are songs that tell the story of lovin', livin', and learnin’.
The band features veteran musicians: Mathisen (The 86ers, Amber Martin & The Fruit Stand) on bass, Amy Puryear (Mama Look, Laila Belle) on vocal harmonies, and newcomer & percussive powerhouse, Gerard Allen (Lost Mary’s) on drums. Together, they deliver a live show that’s intimate, dynamic, and unforgettable.
With theatrical vocals, ringing harmonies, and a rhythm section weaving between country grooves, bowed bass drama, and atmospheric drums, expect a night that’s tender, twangy, and sure to make you swoon!
Jan 25 Sunday
In a fresh twist, area-renown poets take the stage to perform with interpretive musicians with “The Verb Takes a Walk: Poetry Meets Music,” on Sunday, July 23, at the Lansing Performance Hall from 3:00 to 5:00. Featuring Peaches Gillette, Brooke Lange, Daphne Sola, Adin Luca, and Mike Finn, it promises to deliver poetry and music interactions in a memorably unique way.
“During Beatnik times, poetry and music hooked up,” according to Mark Zuss, former poetry professor and organizer of this Savage Club sponsored event. “But since those Kerouac days, this whole genre has been largely lost.”
Each of the “mixed media” readings that afternoon involve readings of diverse original poetry that is matched with live musical or other artform accompaniments or interpretations of that poetry. One of the many highlights is a reading by the 95-year-old poet, Daphne Sola, who will be followed by a high school protégé.
