BINGHAMTON, NY (WSKG) -- U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) and the other senators on the Armed Services Subcommittee were infuriated with real estate executives over health hazards in military base homes.

The hearing comes in conjunction with a scathing report from the Military Family Advisory Network, which found about half of military families living in private housing on bases had a negative or very negative experience.

Complaints included electrical hazards, asbestos, mold, sick children and unfilled work orders, according to NPR.

Gillibrand, who has been a defender of service members, was frustrated.

Here's the audio of her questioning of the business executives at the hearing:

Gillibrand and the other senators promised to fix this, according to Reuters.
