Cornell is the fifth university to reach a deal with the Trump administration. WSKG’s Aurora Berry spoke with News Director Phoebe Taylor-Vuolo about what the settlement means for the university and Tompkins County.

Cornell University announced Friday that it will pay $30 million dollars directly to the federal government. Another $30 million will go to “research programs that will directly benefit U.S. farmers through lower costs of production and enhanced efficiency.”

Voters cast ballots in local races across the region Tuesday. Results are unofficial until all votes have been counted and certified by the state’s board of elections.

Polls are open until 9 p.m. in New York and 8 p.m. in Pennsylvania.
