Cornell StudioLab's Comics, Posters PAR+D showcase returns for a second run in our Main Gallery & Library. The showcase will be on display 11/7 thru 11/15. Comics, Posters, PAR&D features information comics and posters created by Cornell students in Jon McKenzie's First-year Writing Seminar. Students research and present issues from their own field of interest using a variety of media genres: journal articles, abstracts, proposals, annotated bibliographies, info comics, posters, Pecha Kucha presentations, conference panels, and now a design exhibition at MACRE. Combining old school and new school, students learn to mix argument and story, idea and image using forms of transmedia knowledge and strategic storytelling to tackle issues ranging from AI and griefbots to tariff wars and time travel. McKenzie's StudioLab pedagogy bridges expert and common knowledge to address the crisis of higher education in times of eco-anxiety, pandemics, culture wars, and economic uncertainties. More information can be found at studiolab.world

In "Normal" by Anthony Neilson, the year is 1931 in Germany and young attorney Justus Wehner is tasked with defending the notorious serial killer Peter Kurten. As they seek the insanity plea Wehner becomes fascinated by Kurten and begins to wonder about his own nature. Juxtaposing theatricality with grim reality, audiences won't want to miss this feat of horror.
In 1926, radium was a miracle cure, Madame Curie an international celebrity, and luminous watches the latest rage—until the girls who painted them began to fall ill with a mysterious disease. Inspired by a true story, Radium Girls traces the efforts of Grace Fryer, a dial painter, as she fights for her day in court. Her chief adversary is her former employer, Arthur Roeder, an idealistic man who cannot bring himself to believe that the same element that shrinks tumors could have anything to do with the terrifying rash of illnesses among his employees.
As the case goes on, however, Grace finds herself battling not just with the U.S. Radium Corporation, but with her own family and friends, who fear that her campaign for justice will backfire.
Written with warmth and humor, Radium Girls is a fast-moving, highly theatrical ensemble piece for 9 to 10 actors, who play more than 30 parts—friends, co-workers, lovers, relatives, attorneys, scientists, consumer advocates, and myriad interested bystanders.
Called a "powerful" and "engrossing" drama by critics, Radium Girls offers a wry, unflinching look at the peculiarly American obsessions with health, wealth, and the commercialization of science.
Celtic Superstars and power-couple Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy are back on the world stage for the first time since their marriage in 2000. The early 2000’s saw both Natalie and Donnell busy raising their 7 children (all world class musical talents in their own right) and running a fully operational farm - all while still playing over 75 shows a year in North America. Natalie and Donnell have performed with some of the biggest names in music including Carlos Santana, Don Henley, Béla Fleck and more.
With most of the children now in their early to late teens, it’s time to spread their wings again and bring their electrifying live performances to audiences everywhere. Returning to Civic Music after a 10-year hiatus, they will again be performing with two of their seven children, who wowed our audience back then. They call it, “Four on the Floor” and it will likely include some Irish stepdance.

As the temperatures drop, we are mindful of those in our community who may lack adequate means to stay warm this winter. One of the ways we strive to give back is through the annual YMCA Coat Drive. Donation boxes are available in the lobbies of both branches. We invite you to consider donating new or gently used winter essentials. These items will be distributed on Sunday, Nov 16, from 2:00 to 3:30 PM during our Community Thanksgiving Dinner at the West Family Y!
